Reason why it is flex-fuel is because it'll help the company meet the CAFE standards. By being flex-fuel capable, it'll get a government rating that's 67% higher than it's mpg rating. So if the car (van in this case) is capable of doing 20mpg, it gets rated as 33(.4)mpg, in which will help make up for cars (such as Viper) for not meeting the government 25mpg standard.

On a side note: (Diamler)Chrysler got slapped with a record fine by the EPA for not meeting CAFE standard for 2007.
