am i the only one that felt like they saw no wrestling on raw this monday? i'm pretty sure i'm not. there was nothing but talk, talk, talk. it seems like vince thinks that as long as he's on the tv that raw will get big ratings. i haven't seen ecw yet, i will in like half an hour but i bet it'll be better than what was on raw. jeez. what has wrestling become?

A LOT OF stuff

Ron Killings' release from TNA was confirmed last weekend. He asked for his release after TNA held a meeting where TNA said they would let anyone who wanted to leave, out of their contract. It was pretty much considered to be a formality he'd be let go. The two parties formally agreed last weekend.
Killings has a spot waiting for him in AAA in Mexico if he decides to take it. As soon as his working papers are complete, which should be in February, he will likely be working there.
On his MySpace page regarding his release, he talked about going back to his "original stomping grounds." Early in his career, he worked the indies in Georgia and the Carolinas, and of course, there was his brief run in WWE. It is unknown at the moment if WWE is interested in him or not. However, what is known is that Jeff Hardy and Umaga are pushing company officials to sign him to a contract.

Rob Van Dam recently said during an appearance on the Joe McDonnell Experience radio show that he does not feel that WWE should be testing for marijuana. Van Dam said that when you are dealing with things such as anti-depressants or painkillers, weed should be the least of WWE’s worries. For those that do not remember, RVD was busted by police after he won the WWE Championship last year with Sabu smoking marijuana. If you fail a marijuana test in WWE you are not subject to suspension but are fined for the violation.

Lilian Garcia had a mishap during last night’s Armageddon pay-per-view. According to fan reports, Lilian fell right before announcing Beth Phoenix as the winner of the WWE Women’s Championship match against Mickie James. For those that do not remember, Lilian was injured at a live RAW taping in Pittsburgh back in June 2006 when Charlie Haas bounced her off of the ring apron.

Morale remains down in the TNA locker room. One wrestler told us that they just go to work, do their thing, and go home. While some were moved by Dixie Carter’s emotional speech that she gave before the iMPACT tapings a couple of weeks ago, reality set in once the tapings began. As we have been reporting, Ron Killings and Senshi are gone from TNA and more are expected to follow.
The script for the January 3rd TNA iMPACT has been leaked on the Internet. It is very detailed and goes over the entire show begging until end. It even details the backstage segments, interviews, matches, and the color commentary. Interesting enough it reveals the entire card for their Final Resolution pay-per-view and also lists D'Lo Brown and Glen Gillberti (a/k/a Disco Inferno) as producers for various segments.
According to the script of the January 3rd iMPACT, Kurt Angle will defend his TNA Championship at Final Resolution against Christian Cage. The script reveals every match on the card.

While in Iraq for the Tribute to the Troops taping, several WWE superstars found themselves in grave danger. A helicopter carrying Dean Malenko, Mickie James, Carlito, Chris Jericho, JBL, and Ron Simmons was damaged while landing, stranding the superstars for five hours in a war zone in Tarmiyah, Iraq. They were in the middle of fires, smoke bombs, dead animals, and razor wire everywhere while hanging out with soldiers in an unsecure location.

Advertising for February's No Way Out pay-per-view in Las Vegas has already begun. Right now they are pushing an Elimination Chamber with the winner getting a title shot at WrestleMania. The deal is that the Royal Rumble winner will pick which champion he faces. The top wrestlers likely from the other brand will battle for the other title shot. Names being advertised are Shawn Michaels, Jeff Hardy, Mr. Kennedy, Umaga, and Bobby Lashley. It is unusual to see advertisements out this early as historically they don't come out until a few days prior to the pay-per-view. It also appears that the plan when the ads were written is for Chris Jericho not to be in the championship picture.

WWE is talking about holding another draft in 2008 following WrestleMania. Lots of ideas are being pitched about making major changes to all three rosters, but it is likely WWE will first get a game plan down for WrestleMania before they start the booking process to move the superstars.

On this week’s edition of WWE RAW, Vince McMahon announced that in 2 weeks time on, the December 31st edition of WWE RAW, Triple H will be going one-on-one with the Nature Boy, Ric Flair. Ric Flair’s career stipulation will be on the line, where if he loses he will have to retire.

Pro wrestling group threatens to leave Georgia
Group balks at regulations from state's boxing commission

World Wrestling Entertainment says it will pull out of the state if subjected to state regulation.

"If those regulation are applied to us, we won't do Georgia," WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt warned Monday afternoon.

The threat came on the eve of Tuesday morning's scheduled 11 a.m. meeting of the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission in which the state governing body is expected to discuss abuses in professional wrestling.

The body, which is better known as the state boxing commission, regulates the state's boxing and mixed martial arts, as well as ticket brokers.

Professional wrestling also falls under the group's jurisdiction, but the WWE had been exempt thanks to a 2005 statute that excluded groups with total assets or more than $25 million. Only the state Legislature can undo the exemption.

"Almost every state knows, and has known for years, that wrestling is entertainment and not a sport," he said. "It's like Ice Capades."

Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission chairman Kelly Farr declined comment when reached at his office.

One of the board's commissioners, Atlanta-based attorney Cary Ichter, represents the father of deceased wrestler Chris Benoit, whose murder of his wife and son and subsequent suicide at their family home in Fayettville precipitated the series of events leading to this point.

Ichter, who has championed for the better care of wrestlers since the Benoit tragedy in late June, said he wasn't surprised to hear of the WWE's threat to pull out.

"What else would you expect a bully to say?" he said.

Tuesday's meeting of the boxing commission is expected to focus largely on small-time wrestling events and not the conglomerate that is the Connecticut-based WWE.

The commission is expected to take public comment before considering a number of amendments to its rules.

Ichter has said he would love to see the WWE's loophole eventually rescinded and have its performers subject to drug testing and other regulation just like participants from other sports in Georgia.

The WWE will be back in town next week when it hosts its "Raw Live" show at Phillips Arena on Dec. 28.

What You Didn't See On WWE RAW Last Night
Dark/Heat matches:

Atlas Debone vs. Drew McIntyre. Drew won. After the match, Atlas worked the crowd on his loss. He has great charisma and will go far if creative lets him.
Hacksaw Duggan & Super Crazy vs. The Highlanders. Highlanders won. Crowd was chanting USA...SI during the match.
Snitsky vs Mike Toland(?) not sure about last name. Typical Snitsky match....the crowd was dead...no one cared about him.
Charlie Haas vs. DH Smith. Great match with DH Smith getting the win. Poor Charlie, his entrance still showed Sheldon on it.

In the crowd were a lot of Owen HOF 2008 signs that were confiscated. Also, there were "Welcome Home Beth" (she's from Buffalo) and Y2J signs.

After the first commercial break, Vince just sat in the ring until HHH came out. When HHH was done, he had the crowd sing Hey Hey Goodbye to Vince...funny stuff.

Post Raw:

Dark Match: Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho. Good match. Jericho had Orton in the Walls of Jericho when out comes JBL to interfere, causing a disqualification. Jericho put JBL in Walls of Jericho to end the night.

Pops:
Flair
HHH
Jeff Hardy (probably the biggest of the night)
Lillian (Buffalo just LOVES her)
Y2J
Jim Ross & Jerry Lawler
Cena (on the videos....yes he's still revered)

Heat:
Snitsky- The bathrooms & concession stands were very busy when he was on. (Vince-get the hint!)
Orton
(No Hornswoggle...where was he?)

WWE’s Candice Michelle will be in Playboy Magazine once again as she will be part of their “Cyber Girls” spread.

WWE management was said to be very happy with Jeff Hardy’s work on RAW last night. Sources within the company praised him for both his mic work during the Vince McMahon angle as well as his wrestling in the main event. The word that we are getting is that WWE is firmly behind Hardy and are dedicated to giving him a continued push. Everyone in the company believes that Jeff is ready to accept the responsibility that goes along with being a big superstar in WWE. With that being said, there is a very good chance that Jeff Hardy will end up with a WWE Championship run barring that he does not make any stupid mistakes (like he has done in the past). Hardy may not be victorious against Randy Orton at Royal Rumble, but I expect him to remain in the title picture for several months after, if not, throughout most of 2008. WWE likes what they are seeing with Jeff Hardy and with them trying to push guys that are smaller with more normal body types; the time is now for Jeff Hardy.

WWE.com has an article now online promoting JBL’s return to RAW last night as an in-ring competitor. With JBL returning to the ring this poses the obvious question as to who will replace him for SmackDown commentary alongside Michael Cole?

Dave Meltzer stated in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Shawn Michaels’ knees are in the worst shape that they have ever been. Whether or not this has anything to do with WWE not giving him a title run is unknown, although there has to be concern as to the longevity of his career at this point.
