Anyone here gone through this?

Yes.

Also, were you awake during the surgery?
|
Yes. They did each side at a time and only gave lidocain injections in the gums. I too was swollen for a week and numb for a day. Like I looked ridicolous, when I could not fully close the mouth on one side and blood and salive were dripping out. Luckily I got off from school for a week after each treatment, not like one guy I know, that had to go to school with the swollen cheeks only two days after the surgery.

Anything I can do for pain relief other than taking painkillers?
|
Endure. Is it really that bad? I remember it being a dull pain not closely as bad as a dental drill hitting the nerve.

My stepsister (as me, she's not American) got general anaesthetic, but had all four teeth done at once.

Ask for the real Vicodin.

Ha. You know what they gave me? A surgical glove filled with water that they had frozen. I had to press it against my cheek to cool it.
