I think they should have some sort of battle royal for the title at No Mercy. Then, when the winner is crowned, you have a bunch of guys who didn't win wanting the title, setting up feuds to become the next Number One Contender.
At some point, a heel should become the Number One Contender, someone like Orton (though he should win) or Kennedy, and then Jericho returns to beat him. After he wins, he can turn heel himself and go after the champ. |
