Alan Rickman is excellent as villains, but I'm not sure if I can ever seeing him play a normal type of character who isn't wickedly evil. He's not the leading man type of actor who's a box office draw, but he's well respected. He's also probably done pretty well financially doing the HP films, so I highly doubt he'd take a role just for a quick paycheck, and wouldn't do a role if the script wasn't good.
It seems like this character could be somewhere between Faith and Gina, which could show off Eliza at her best. It doesn't seem like a starring role, but hopefully bigger than The Kiss. If it's a decent script, it could lead to bigger roles.
Of course, this nearly the same discussion many of us had when we found out about the Kiss, so I'm only cautiously optimistic.
