X-MEN was freaking sweet. You actually had to pay attention to know what was going on sometimes. They'd reference old episodes a lot.

Plus, some of the material in there wasn't meant for younger kids. I'm surprised they were so accurate with characterizing Sabretooth. Dude was more hardcore in the cartoon than he was in the movie. That, and they really used the prejudice theme a lot.

BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES was just as good, IMO. They really got the psychology of Batman/Bruce Wayne down, even better than Batman Begins. He's a lot more obsessive and domineering, even alienating Robin and Alfred at times.

SPIDER-MAN, as good as it was, sometimes tried to put in too many supervillains every week, and didn't use some of them as much as they should have, while overusing others. Venom being the former, Morbius being the latter. Plus, they downgraded Spidey's powers a lot.
