Angel couldn't go into the sunlight. But then Buffy gave him the Gem of Amara (which allows vamps to walk in daylight and to be invicible). He decided to destroy the ring.

When Angel had sex with Buffy he lost his soul. It was too hard for him to be around her and not be "with' her. And he didn't think it was fair to have her remain chaste, having only done it once, for him. Except that on his show he has had sex with Darla, Eve, and Nina. And probably would have with Cordy if Connor and Skip hadn't intervened.

Vampires can't have children. Angel told Buffy this. And yet somehow he ends up having a human son with the vampire Darla.
He destroyed the ring because every vampire in their dimension(and maybe others) would come after him for it, and eventually one would probably take it. It was far too dangerous an item for him to keep, much less bring around Buffy, thus threatening her life as well.

I've got to agree with Eadweard on this one, I just don't believe he could reach "perfect happiness" with anyone but Buffy. Which makes extra sense if you're Buffy\Angel person, which I am. I've always wondered why the perfect happiness curse remained after he was re-ensouled. The way I understand it, that wasn't a condition of getting a soul, it was something the Gypsies did to further punish him. Only reasonable answer I've come up with is that they were good\clever enough to make the curse somehow re-instate itself with his soul. But that answer never really satisfied me.

Again, I see it the same as Eadweard, it is impossible, something beyond what we know must have intervened. I mean it's not like Angel hadn't had unprotected sex before, for centuries he was Darla's lover, I doubt that was a closed relationship, and I think I remember it being said that Angelus was a rapist too(I may be wrong here).
