I finished off my book yesterday, and I must say I am a bit disappointed...
Though I knew it was written as a diary when I ordered it, I didn`t really think about it before I held it in my hands, and started reading..
You know.. IMO Faith is not a diary-writing type kind of girl. So that just felt wrong, all thru it.
And much about how the story was told "by Faith" is not actually how someone would write it in their diary. All the conversations, and what happened... Not diary material if you ask me. Had this been written as a novel, seen thru Faiths eyes it probably would have been better.
And I also just couldn`t "see" Faith in the stories told. It didn`t feel like her, if you know what I mean.
It just felt like the writer made up his own story, and put some of the Faithisms randomly in there, just because it was supposed to be based on her.
All really disappionting to me.. Maybe partly because I have a vivid imagination, and had already wondered and come up with my own conclutions to why she uses the phrases she does. Like "five by five" and "give us a kiss". Wich was totally destroyed by some boring events as to where and why she uses these phrases.
And whats up by destroyng Faiths "image" given to us thru BtVS and AtS?
We learn that she just uses boys, and don`t really think about them so much after. They`re toys to her.
And still the writer have her fall in love or what ya wanna call it, with Killian(Kenny), and keep mentioning Ronnie and Steve, her past boyfriends. Whats up with that?
Like they would have mattered to the "real" Faith, from BtVS!
And really.. The whole meaneds and the past slayer thing, and Alex... Too far off for my liking...
And also... The tattoo.. She couldn`t just have gone off and gotten that herself? Did that too have to be mystical? Faith is the kind of person that would have a tattoo. To me that was a part of her rebelliousness (?) and that too got ruined by the story.
Oh, I`m just so disappointed...
I was so looking forward to this book...
But I have to read it one more time, just because I read the whole book in.. oh.. about 7-8 hours continuosly. Just because I wanted to know more about this fantastic character, Faith.
Maybe it will be better when I take more time to read and understand, than just skimming fast thru it :p
*hoping that the Book of Fours is better*
Oh, and I have to add:
The acknowledgement too Eliza just rocks! If I loved anything about this book, that would be it ;)
