If a distributitor had picked up Nobel Son, there would have been something in one of the trades about it.
For any movie to have a wide release (meaning over 2000 theaters, so it would be in most US towns) it has to be released by a major distributor (Sony, Fox, Paramount, etc). A few smaller films have done well major distrubution (Passion of the Christ, for example), but it rarely happens.
The amount of money to distrubute a film wide is astronomic. Prints alone for a 3,000 film release would probably be more than the entire production budget of Nobel Son. Advertising budgets for any movie with wide release usually cost at least $10M now. So, that's why you don't see small films that have limited appeal get wide releases.
All of the major studios have their fall schedules set. They're working on tweaking summer 2007 right now and setting their fall 2007 schedules. If Nobel Son was coming out any time soon, it would be on a release schedule by now and some site like BoxOfficeMojo.com would know about it.
