Ms. Hewitt strikes me as being principled and unwavering, which leads me to believe that she has not and won't likely consider seriously any offer to pose nude. But she's also a shrewd businesswoman who has learned a thing or two about how to further her career. By allowing the rumors to propagate without immediately denying them, or even by allowing or authorizing unnamed friends to announce that she is considering such offers, she turns the volume up on the buzz, plants an imaginative seed in the minds of various powers that be, and accomplishes at least to some extent the very effect that posing would produce without having to resort to posing – that she is willing to take on new, more daring roles and thereby take her career in a different direction. Ms. Hewitt seems like a terrific person with heartfelt moral convictions, but hey, she's also an actress who knows how to play a role.
