Let's hope this is finally the news we've been waiting for, for so long...

EXCLUSIVE: FishBowlLA has learned that Josh Hartnett is in negotiations to star in "Texas Lullaby," a modern day retelling of "Hamlet" set in a Texas trailer park.Insiders also tell us that Bruce Willis - who many media outlets insisted was set to play Hamlet's murdered dad, won't star in the picture.

The indie is being produced by commercials maven Marshall Rawlings will also star Ellen Barkin as a Queen Gertrude-like mother to Harnett; John Malkovich as a cop who romantically cozies up to Harnett's mom - Uncle Claudius-style. Still starring opposite Hartnett is Alison Lohman.

Script comes from Steve Alison, who most recently wrote wrote the screenplay for next year's Alan Cumming and Catherine Zeta Jones film, 'Coming Out'.

And at the helm of "Lullaby" is commercials director Malcolm Venville who's best known for his clever spots for Volkswagen in the States.

It's easy to see how Malkovich and Venville got together: Venville's repped by Steve Golin's Anonymous Content - a heavyweight in commercial production with directors like Ang Lee and Guy Ritchie in its stable alongside Venville - and Golin also produced 1999's "Being John Malkovich" with a then-unknown commercials helmer named Spike Jonze. Malkovich and Barkin and Loman are all conveniently repped by Rawling's CAA agent wife, Jenny Rawlings.

Source.
This sounds so exciting... fingers crossed it comes off for Josh.
