OK, my small review. The movie actually runs 95 minutes. They include a music video (Something Stupid - sung by the Sinatras), they include a very small interview with Love (interpersed with on-the-set footage), then a small "making of" segment, you get the Korean trailer and a small picture gallery and ends with some kind of very short Korean quiz. I suppose if you add all these extras to the running time you may wind up with 112 minutes or so.
Now to the meat of the matter. The movie is fairly slow. It has one of those English plots that creeps along. Characters are fairly subdued. Love shows lots of talent throughout, and her accent is almost tolerable (almost). Another grown-up role, it's not hardly as good as If Only, but If Only was such an unusual type of movie. This movie is primarily about relationships, so was If Only, but If Only added the whole time warp scenario, with a simple twist at the end. The Truth About Love is pretty straightforward in it's storyline. There's a small interesting angle, though the movie still winds up where you expect it at the end, typical. The one truly annoying thing I noticed throughout is the dialog track seems to have been completely re-dubbed or possibly put through some kind of sound processor. Lets put it this way, it's no George Lucas THX soundtrack. |
