Talking

Thanks Shaun! I figured if I was going to devote so much energy to a research project, I might as well share the results. I've even updated the list tonight.

I had a few comments I wanted to make back when I posted this, and haven't gotten to it before now, so let's see if I remember everything... (yeah right)

When I was growing up I always wanted to be a waitress. My sister opened a restaurant in Mississippi, and I went down there and was a waitress for a few days. Let me tell you, I got it out of my system.
I KNEW I was going to regret not going! I drove past the area for family reasons a couple days before the opening, and by the time I heard about it, I was already back in Florida. Didn't think it would be worth my while to drive another 1500 miles just to find out she'd only been around for a few hours (and I'd probably've just missed her). But she apparently stayed to get the place off the ground before the professional waitstaff could be assembled.

I know you're all imagining right alongside me what it would've been like to have our li'l goddess serving us, for a change. "I'm out of water!" "This milkshake is too cold!" "You're not from around here, are you, darlin'?" "I'm taking a dollar off your tip for lousy service." "Does this taste right to you?"

What nicknames did you have back then? Now?

My family has always called me "Lay Lay," and my dad used to always call me "Dynamite Termite" because I was really short and small and I hated to be still. I would never stop.
I hope you've grown out of some of that; I have some fragile stuff in my stuff collection, and if you're going to bounce all over the walls, I'm not going to invite you into my house when you show up at my door tonight, missy. There's my mug collection, my butterfly collection, and my spaghetti collection, some of which I traveled half-way around the world to get.

What were your hobbies back then? Now?

When I was 17, I did photography, and I am still into photography now. Shopping, as well.
So release a photography book! Hey, if my cousin Ansel can do it, anyone can!

What did you worry about back then? Now?

Back then I would dream about having a boyfriend, now I do have a boyfriend. I would dream about wanting to drive somewhere and do what I want, and now I can. Good advice would be to slow down. It will all come in time. There's no need to rush anything.
So does that mean you CAN or CANNOT drive on the interstate without being a danger to everyone around you now?

Wait, what!?! What was that other thing? Aw !

Seriously, though, I'm happy for you!

What advice would you give your 17-year-old self?

Stop worrying that you don't have perfect hair and that you're only 5'2" and won't get an inch taller. Enjoy every moment and stop feeling that things aren't exactly how you want them to be; it isn't your fault. Relax and be grateful for what you have. You're meant to be the way you are.
I'd kick her butt for telling you your hair wasn't perfect! How dare she lie!

Hmmm... Nope, didn't remember everything; I know I had a lot more sarcasm in mind, but apparently I've lost one or the other of those things temporarily. Oh well. You guys get a turn now.
