I'll bite anyway... I'm asian and I have no special bias for asian actors (any of the few out there). I feel so incredibly ashamed of not sticking to my own people! Yeah ok.

We're in America. She was born American. If she doesn't CONSIDER herself Latina, who are you to say she SHOULD ? There's a difference between disowning your own heritage altogether vs. simply not living in it day to day. One of her good friends in the industry is Eva Longoria (Spanish) and she obviously had a special connection with Robert Rodriguez (Sin City director)... read her comments about him and you'll know she was proud of his background. On top of this kind of stuff, she's taking Spanish classes, so it's not like she's turning a blind eye to her Spanish background.

And by the way, she's only 50% Mexican/Spanish. I wonder if you knew her mom wasn't? If she claims to be Latina, what kind of respect does that show for her mom's side? Let's add this up. Born in America, with a mix of Mexican/Spanish/French/Dutch... and you want her to call herself Latina... sounds a bit selfish to me.

Someone needs to do more homework before spewing hatred for someone they know so little about.

I'll add one more thing. Those in the entertainment industry who do segregate themselves by OPENLY saying "I'm (enter race here)" are not doing themselves any favors. Sure you have your devoted entourage of ethnic followers, but you're basically saying to everyone else... "I'm a proud (enter race here) and other races don't much matter to me". Guess what ? If you're a good entertainer or whatever it is you do, nobody cares what background you are. YOU WILL BE LIKED JUST THE SAME. (At least the ones who aren't bigots)

Ask yourself, do you like Latin actors/actresses moreso than others primarily for that reason ? If everyone were like you, the most successful people on this Earth would be of the race who has the most members. Doesn't really work, does it ? I'm not saying you can't be proud of your background, but to choose to hate someone who doesn't necessarily identify with it is absurd. Print that in your school paper, maybe someone from "your school" (or probably more specifically your Latin American club there) will learn or realize there's a whole world out in America.
