I disagree. I think there is a perception of the world being more dangerous, but women are not helpless little flowers. They may face different dangers than men, but that doesn't mean they are more or less prone to safety issues. I do agree that "blaming the victim" for dressing provacatively is not the right answer. On the other hand, if one is so concerned with such things, one wouldn't tempt fate, would one? Of course, I think a female flaunting her body means something completely different than how a man perceives it too. Women should just be aware that there are men out there who only see an object to be attained rather than a person exercising her independence/maturity. |
