Thanks Pranskalot!
Well, I still think Amanda should consider finding a TV show. I am imagining her doing a half hour sitcom, possibly on NBC right between The Office and 30 Rock on Thursdays. I think Amanda should be the producer and most important, start writing material for herself. If she is not happy with what is given to her, write the stuff SHE WANTS to do. Of course, a TV series can be more work than a film. Usually consist of 16-18 hour days 6 days a week and can be very stressful. Still, I think Amanda is use to that schedule back when she was doing WILAY.
I am watching the movie 'The Holiday" right now and I think Amanda would have been great in the Cameron Diaz part. So, I think there are some good parts out there, it is just a question of Amanda getting the offers first. Getting back to Amanda as the villian , when I saw Sydney White I thought Amanda would have done far better as Rachel Witchburn. I think she could have really hammed up the part and made fun of her good girl image with it. Frankly, I would love to see Amanda play the ***** in a comedy. The one you hate. The one who has something really bad happen to her at the end. I think people need to see her in something other than the likable girl next door. Thats whats going to get her noticed.
I know the movie is awful but I could have easily seen Amanda in the Ben Stiller film 'The Heartbreak Kid" as his new wife. She was annoying but not really mean or evil. Amanda with her slapstick skills could have owned that part. However, I doubt she would have done it because of the nude scene or the love scene and sex jokes. One of Amanda's faults is she is very pretty and men who write and direct and produce these films have only thing in mind when it comes to a film like this. Now, this film she has coming out on Lifetime for example. What if the drama which deals with breast cancer had her character do a nude scene which dealt with a serious subject matter? What of the scene in question was of Amanda getting a breast exam or being examined by a Doctor? My point is, I think Amanda needs to find a female producer, director, writer who will have a bit more taste and respect towards her. I was actually kind of excited a year ago about the rumored Lady Godiva film she was suppose to be attached to. A great story and Amanda would have been PERFECT! She looks the part, right age, and the character is good and does a noble act. Art films are something she should consider. Natalie Portman followed that path.
Amanda doing theatre is OK, but I think she could do something way better than Guess Who Is Coming To Dinner. Theatre does not pay very well and you burn out very fast.
So, Amanda has many options and I think she is very smart holding off til she find the right project. As a fan, I have total faith in her. There is not art or film she could do that would make me not like or admire her. I just would like to see her break the stereotype and do something bold, fresh, and even possibly shocking. |
