I don't think she'd be looking at a Broadway role as a last resort. I think she'd be looking at it as a huge opportunity and a way to prove herself. I've said this before and I'm not trying to be rude, but I think Amanda's career isn't going anywhere because she doesn't want it to. There's no doubt she's getting offers, she just isn't taking them for whatever reason. Hairspray was a demanding role, with singing, acting, and choregraphy with a different shooting schedule than most movies, and then to jump into a starring role in Sydney White immediately after while working on a clothing line and promoting both movies would make anyone tired. The failure of Sydney White was anyone but Amanda's fault. No one knows how audiences will respond to things, and the movie wasn't treated well in terms of promotion or advertising. The writer's strike delayed everything too. I have no fear that Amanda is going anywhere, she just isn't one of those attention whores like other actresses her age. |
